A waitress at a southern New Jersey diner helped an 86-year-old man get out of his car shortly before it caught fire.
Waitress Angela Avenarius said Charlie Flowers is a regular at the Bridgeton Family Diner in Cumberland County. When he pulled up on Thursday, she said his car appeared to be overheating.
She said she rushed out yelling to the man and helped him get out of the Chevrolet Impala.
The pair then took shelter under the diner's awning.
"By the time we got under the canopy, it caught on fire," Avenarius told NJ.com.
