A tractor-trailer apparently hit a bridge on a New Jersey highway Thursday and burst into flames, killing one man, though it wasn't clear if the victim was the semi driver, according to New Jersey State Police.
Multiple fire departments responded to the accident site on Interstate 78 near Tewksbury because of fuel leakage; hazmat teams also responded.
Photos from the scene showed a heavy emergency response; the cab of the tractor-trailer was in flames and its cargo area was a smoldering wreckage.
Eastbound lanes in the area were closed following the 7:15 a.m. accident as authorities investigated. Westbound lanes remained open.
