Nine people are being treated for minor injuries at New York City hospitals after a sport utility vehicle hit a parked car near the set of a Nicolas Cage film in Times Square.
The accident happened at about 3:28 a.m. Wednesday in midtown Manhattan. Several of the injured pedestrians were production assistants for the movie “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” which had just wrapped up shooting at 3 a.m.
The SUV's driver, Laura Conti, told 4 New York the accident happened when she tried to avoid hitting a taxicab and instead struck a parked car. Both vehicles jumped the curb. Neither vehicle was part of the movie shoot.
No criminality is suspected but the accident is being investigated, police said.
It marked the second car accident involving the “The Sorcerer's Apprentice” in three days.
Early Monday, a Ferrari crashed into a restaurant blocks away from Wednesday's accident during filming of a chase scene. Two people suffered minor injuries.
