An explosion at a Newark manufacturing plant injured four workers and damaged the building, authorities say.
The explosion sparked a two-alarm fire at Boasso America, a container transportation plant, at 80 Doremus Ave. Monday evening, according to Newark Police Capt. John Brown.
Thick black plumes of smoke and flames billowed from the building over an orange glow, captured from above by Chopper 4. The smoke came dangerously close to nearby Pulaski Skyway during the height of rush hour.
One worker got trapped in the building, and authorities were able to rescue him at about 8 p.m.
He and two other workers were taken to University Hospital, and another worker was taken to St. Barnabas. It's not clear how seriously they were hurt.
Brown said there didn't appear to be any known concern for chemicals in the fire
The fire was under control in hours, officials said.
