One child and two firefighters were injured when a five-alarm blaze tore through a Bronx supermarket early Friday, fire officials say.
The blaze broke out in the ceiling of the Food Dynasty on Hunts Point Avenue at about 12:30 a.m., fire officials say. The flames quickly spread throughout the rest of the building.
Fire officials say that groceries inside the store fanned the flames as more than 200 firefighters worked to stop the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings.
One child in an apartment next door was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation but is expected to survive. Two firefighters also had minor injuries.
The buildings on both sides of the grocery store were evacuated. Between 50 and 100 residents were temporarily displaced.
