New Jersey Man Charged With Owing $27,000 in EZ Pass Fees, Tolls: Port Authority Police

A Newark man was arrested and charged with owing $27,000 in EZ Pass tolls and fees, Port Authority police said.

Cristhian Coral, 42, was driving eastbound on the George Washington Bridge Wednesday morning when a Port Authority police officer pulled him over for entering an "EZ Pass Only" lane without an EZ Pass, police said. The toll sign at the booth read "toll unpaid," police said.

An investigation confirmed that Coral owed $27,000 in tolls and fees, and was arrested, police said. His 2008 Jeep was impounded.

Coral is charged with theft of service and toll evasion.

Coral is due back in court in Bergen County on July 21.
