A five-year-old girl was hospitalized Saturday morning after being attacked by the family's pit bull mix inside her New Jersey home, police said.
The girl, Janaya Everett, was in an upstairs room of the house in East Orange when two pit bulls entered and one attacked her, police said. The dogs live in basement of the home.
The girl was taken to University Hospital in Newark. No information was available about the extent of her injuries and her condition.
Dwyane Harper, the girl's grandfather, told NBC 4 New York that the two pit bulls have no history of being violent. Both dogs were taken from the home and most likely will be put down, he said.
