A 23-year-old man was arrested Sunday on charges accusing him of causing a fatal head-on crash in Westchester County, New York State Police said.
Zachary Tokson, of Scarsdale, drove his 2003 Lexus SUV north in the southbound lanes of I-684 in Bedford Hills at about 5:50 a.m. and crashed his vehicle into an oncoming car, police said.
Elena Lopez, 64, of Mount Kisco, the operator of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tokson's vehicle was then struck by a car driven by 44-year-old Paula Pinheiro-Aloy, of Ridgefield, Connecticut, police said. Pinheiro-Aloy and a passenger weren't injured in the crash.
Tokson and his passenger were taken to Westchester Medical Center, where they were treated for injuries that weren't life-threatening, investigators said.
Tokson was charged with a felony count of criminally negligent homicide and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $100,000 bond, police said.
There was no indication that Tokson had a lawyer who could comment on the charge.
