A massive fire possibly fueled by cooking oil gutted a restaurant supply store in Brooklyn early Monday, authorities say.
The blaze broke out at the building on Parkside and Rogers avenues in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens at about 10:45 p.m. It grew in intensity over the hours, and by 3 a.m. at least four tower ladders were at the scene among fire engines and other rescue vehicles.
About 200 firefighters were called to the scene, and the blaze was knocked down at about 4:15 a.m.
Intense flames shot through the roof of the building as firefighters doused it with water from above. The streets were flooded with hydrant water on a particularly cold night.
The roof eventually gave in and collapsed because of the flames, authorities said. The rest of the building will likely need to be demolished, fire officials said.
A church next door was largely undamaged by the blaze.
No one was thought to be in the building when the fire broke out.

One firefighter was injured in the inferno. He was taken to Kings County Hospital with minor injuries.
