A body pulled from the water at a New Jersey state park over the weekend has been identified as a Jersey City man who had been missing since March, authorities said.
Wajhat Yaqoob's body was pulled from the water at Long Pond Ironworks State Park in West Milford on Friday, officials said.
The 21-year-old had been reported missing on March 10, after he jumped in the water at the park and failed to resurface, according to a Facebook page created to help find Yaqoob.
"The amount of pain the family and friends of Wajhat Yaqoob went through for this last month is indescribable," the group said in a post on Saturday. "However we received closure today, the body of Wajhat has been found."
Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes says a report was received about the body Friday morning, and it was recovered several hours later.
The prosecutor's office is investigating Yaqoob's death.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday in Jersey City.
