A 21-year-old Bronx mother charged with beating her young son to death told cops she killed him because he broke her TV while playing Wii, prosecutors say.
Kim Crawford was arrested Sunday in connection with the death of her 5-year-old son Jamar Johnson. She was charged in court Tuesday with second-degree murder and manslaughter and ordered held without bond.
Prosecutors said Crawford admitted hitting the boy hard in the back and stomach. Police found Jamar unconscious and not breathing at their home on Friday.
An autopsy revealed internal abdominal injuries and determined the death a homicide.
Crawford's defense attorney Camille Abate told the Daily News that her client shouldn't have been charged with murder. She says the facts do not establish that Crawford tried to kill her child.
