The body of a missing woman has been recovered in a Bronx park after the woman's boyfriend confessed to killing her, police said Saturday.
Ashley McDuffie's body was found near Seton Falls Park by East 233rd Street and Monticello Avenue Friday night, family members told NBC 4 New York. The body was wrapped in some type of bed sheets, Mount Vernon police said.
Jason Meyers, 32, of New Rochelle, admitted strangling McDuffie and dumping her body in the park, investigators said. He has an arrest record, but details of his run-ins with the law weren't available.
Meyers is seen with McDuffie in an Aug. 19 surveillance video, but investigators didn't disclose the location.
Meyers' attorney arranged for his client to surrender to police. He issued no statement after Meyers was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
McDuffie, a 27-year-old mother of two, was reported missing on Aug. 24 from her Mount Vernon home.
Police haven't commented on a motive for the killing.
