Armed, Masked Robbers Climb in Long Island McDonald's Drive-Thru Window

A driver had just ordered food at the Massapequa McDonald's when the men appeared on foot

Police say two armed men wearing bandannas over their faces climbed through the drive-thru window of a Long Island McDonald's and forced an employee onto the floor before demanding money early Thursday.

Nassau County detectives say a driver had just ordered food at the Massapequa fast food restaurant just before 4 a.m. and was pulling forward to the window when the employee opened it and the armed men appeared on foot, forcing their way inside.

After ordering one female worker onto the floor, the robbers demanded money from another female worker and fled out the window with cash.

Police say the employees were not injured.

"It's pretty unbelievable -- I hope they get caught," said Lillian Cherry, a worker at the restaurant.

Josh Kaufmann, the franchise owner of the McDonald's restaurant, said only that "the safety of my customers and employees are my top priority" and declined to comment further, citing the police investigation.
