Police say a driver who pulled over to check a flat tire on the Long Island Expressway was struck and killed by a U.S. Postal Service vehicle.
The accident happened just before 5 a.m. Thursday in Old Westbury.
Nassau County police say 54-year-old Mark K. Feldman was driving east on the LIE when he got a flat tire.
They say Feldman pulled over to the shoulder, got out of his car and was hit by a Postal Service tractor-trailer.
Feldman, of Sands Point, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The mail truck driver has not been criminally charged. The driver's name was not released.
The investigation is ongoing.
