A violent robber tried to steal a bicycle from a 50-year-old man on Long Island early Saturday and threatened his victim with a machete, police said.
The victim had his bike parked in front of 755 Old Country Road in New Cassel when the robber tried to get on it and ride away, officials said.
After the man got his bike back and tried to ride away, the robber approached him again with a machete, demanded that he give him the bicycle and slashed the victim on his arm.
The victim lost control of his bike and hit a parked car, chipping his tooth, while the robber fled in a white van.
Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
