Giants legend Lawrence Taylor is being sued by the teen girl he paid for sex in the case that ended with his conviction and six years probation.
The ex-linebacker, who led the Giants to Super Bowl titles in 1987 and 1991, pleaded guilty in January, admitting that he paid the girl, then 16, $300 for sex at an upstate hotel. In addition to the probation, Taylor also must be registered as a sex offender.
Cristina Fierro, now 18, has come forward publicly with attorney Gloria Allred and is suing Taylor under the Trafficking Victims Protection Act in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.
Fierro said at a news conference Monday that she felt Taylor "should be accountable for his crimes and misconduct toward me."
Fierro has said she believes Taylor could tell she had been beaten and was being forced to be there.
Taylor's lawyer, Arthur Aidala, told NBC New York that his client had already offered to help pay for therapy for Fierro, or help with her education. He noted that Taylor's assets are in the names of his relatives, adding "there's not going to be any huge payday."
Aidala also said that in the process of defending Taylor against the suit by Fierro, "facts about her and her past that would have otherwise never come out, now will come out."
