Woman Busted With $300,000 in Heroin Hidden in Cooked Chicken-Looking Packages at JFK Airport

A woman faces federal narcotics smuggling charges after authorities say they found nearly 10 pounds of heroin worth about $300,000 hidden in packages that looked almost like cooked chickens at JFK Airport.

Emma Soriano, a U.S. citizen, was stopped after arriving at JFK from Mexico City on Friday after a baggage inspection turned up the drugs, authorities say. Customs authorities seized the heroin and took the woman into custody.

The case was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations and will be prosecuted by New York's Eastern District.

It wasn't immediately clear if Soriano had an attorney.
