A 27-year-old Long Island guitar teacher was arrested for allegedly having sex with one of his students, beginning when she was 15, authorities say.
Detectives say the student began taking lessons from Yoel Gonzalez, of Valley Stream, when she was 13; the lessons were held at the Bracco Music Center on Rockaway Avenue, where Gonzalez was employed.
After some time, authorities say Gonzalez stopped working for Bracco but continued to tutor the student in her home.
After two years of lessons, Gonzalez allegedly initiated a sexual relationship with the victim that lasted several years. He was 24 at the time and she was 15.
Detectives arrested Gonzalez once they learned of the encounters.
Gonzalez was charged with third-degree rape and committing a criminal sexual act. Information on an attorney for him wasn't immediately available.
Detectives ask anyone with information about other possible victims to call 516-573-4022.
