A car fire on the outbound upper deck of the George Washington Bridge caused long delays during the evening rush.
Fire trucks blocked at least three lanes of west-bound traffic in the middle of the span. The car caught fire shortly before 5 p.m.
The lanes reopened a short time later but there were still residual delays.
In a separate incident, a disabled truck delayed traffic leading up to the span itself. No injuries have been reported.
