The first reported baby born in New York City this year came into the world at exactly 12 a.m. Thursday.
Weighing 8 pounds and 8 ounces, the baby boy was born to Olena Olenyukh at HHC Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, a hospital spokesman said. The newborn's name: Maxim.
Coming in at a close second, another baby boy was born at one second after midnight at Montefiore Health System in the Bronx. The boy, born to Angela Ortega, weighed 7 pounds and 10 ounces.
Other New Year’s babies include one baby boy born at Manhattan’s Metropolitan Hospital at 12:12 a.m. and another baby born at 12:20 a.m. at Jamaica Hospital in Queens.
