Six firefighters and nearly a dozen others were injured in a large fire that raged amid high winds in the Bronx Thursday, authorities said.
The FDNY said all of the injuries were "relatively minor."
The FDNY got the call around 9:25 a.m. for the blaze at the private brick home on Dean Avenue in Eastchester. It went to four alarms and more than 150 firefighters were on the scene.
The fire was on all three floors and was difficult to control because of the weather, the FDNY said.
The wind created a "blowtorch" effect and frozen fire hydrants made it difficult to get water on the blaze as quickly as usual, the fire chief said.
