A raging fire consumed a multi-family home on the Brooklyn waterfront Monday, spreading to neighboring buildings and sending thick black plumes of smoke into the air as firefighters doused the charred structure with water.
Nearly 170 firefighters responded to the four-alarm blaze at the building on National Drive in Mill Basin after getting a call shortly before 3 p.m. The FDNY said no injuries have been reported.
Authorities say the fire started in one building and spread to at least two neighboring ones.
Chopper 4 showed an extensive emergency presence at the scene as searing flames gashed the roof. Firefighters attacked the flames from the ground and nearby rooftops; the blaze appeared to be under control before 4 p.m., but firefighters continued to battle hotspots.
Real estate site Trulia lists the building as a five-bedroom, three-bathroom multi-family home built in 1970. It wasn't clear if anyone was inside when the blaze erupted.
