A dog attacked its owner in Queens, then turned on the owner's friend who tried to help her before a police officer shot and killed the animal, police said Sunday.
Exclusive video obtained by NBC 4 New York shows the vicious attack and the officer shooting the dog at point blank range.
The women were walking with the dog in Ridgewood on Saturday night when the animal suddenly bit its owner in the stomach, the video shows.
Several bystanders are seen trying to help, including one person who used a bat or a stick to beat the dog.
Then the dog turned on the owner's friend, latching onto her wrist, the video shows.
A police officer then ran up and shot the dog at close range.
The women were taken to a hospital, police said. They were expected to survive their injuries.
