Four people were hurt, some of them seriously, when a cab jumped a curb in midtown Monday, fire officials said.
The victims were taken to the hospital after the accident at Fifth Avenue and East 59th Street shortly before 3 p.m., authorities said. Three of the victims had serious injuries.
It wasn't clear if the injured were pedestrians or in the black cab, which appeared to be a Lyft vehicle.
Authorities said the vehicle was heading east on 59th Street when the driver apparently lost control, spun around and smashed head-on into a lamppost.
Video from the scene showed several people lying bloodied on the ground, umbrellas covering the tops of their heads to protect them from the sun, as passersby scrambled around the damaged cab.
