Authorities say one person died and five others were injured in a fire at a 24-story apartment building in Brooklyn.
The blaze broke out just before 3 a.m. Friday on West 33rd Street in Coney Island.
Fire officials say it was brought under control just after 5 a.m.
Police say a man in his 30s died in the blaze.
The FDNY says another person suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. The other injuries were minor.
The Coney Island fire came hours after a blaze in Cypress Hills injured seven people and caused subway disruptions.
Both fires are under investigation.
