A 30-year-old man has been convicted in a Long Island revenge crime for fatally shooting a Brooklyn man after the shooter's girlfriend told him she contracted herpes from the victim.
A jury on Thursday found Daniel Greenspan, of Manhattan, guilty of murder in the 2009 killing of 32-year-old Michael Sinclair.
Prosecutors say Greenspan used his girlfriend to lure her former lover to West Babylon where he shot him to death. They say Greenspan concocted the plot after learning he contracted herpes from his girlfriend who told him she got it from Sinclair.
The defense attorney told the jurors they shouldn't believe the girlfriend. He said there was no evidence that put Greenspan at the crime scene.
Greenspan faces 25 years to life in prison when he's sentenced April 27.
