Police are looking for a man wearing a blazer and dress shoes who followed a 39-year-old woman into her Soho apartment building Friday night, pushed her to the ground and tried to rape her, authorities say.
The woman was walking back from a corner deli at Hudson and Spring streets at about 9:15 p.m. when the man pushed her into her building as she opened the front door, according to a law enforcement official. She fell onto the lobby floor, where the man got on top of her and exposed himself.
She kicked him away and started yelling.
Another man walked in during the attack and scared the would-be rapist away, police said. The woman was treated for bruises at the hospital.
Surveillance video shows the suspect, wearing a blue blazer, white shirt, dark pants and dress shoes, walking down the street after the attack.
Anyone with information about him or the attack is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
