A suspect has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 77-year-old shoe cobbler who was robbed and beaten to death in his upstate New York home, detectives said Sunday.
The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports that police in Port Jervis announced Monday that 29-year-old Dennis McBee of Port Jervis has been charged with second-degree murder in the beating death of Josef Kucher.
A customer found him Friday morning inside his store, Kucher's Shoe Repair & Orthopedic, in the Orange County city located where the borders of Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey meet. Kucher died the next day.
Police say they arrested McBee at a motel in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. It couldn't be determined if he has a lawyer.
It's not clear how investigators linked the suspect to the shoemaker's death.
