Suspect Charged With Shoving 72-Year-Old onto Subway Tracks in Manhattan: Police

The man was with his wife on a train platform at 145th and St. Nicholas Avenue when he tumbled onto the tracks Friday afternoon

Police say a homeless man has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly pushing a 72-year-old man onto a subway platform in Manhattan Friday afternoon.

Rudralall Baldao, 57, was also charged with assault after the man was shoved onto the train platform at 145th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue about 4:30 p.m.

Police say straphangers at the station helped the man, who had been waiting for the A train with his wife, back up before a train came. He fractured his skull and broke his collarbone and remained hospitalized Saturday.

It's not known whether Baldao has an attorney. He is being held without bail.
