And to think, he's just begun what could be his biggest franchise yet.
Even without counting the whopping nine-picture deal he struck with Marvel Studios to take the role of superspy Nick Fury from cameo (in "Iron Man," "Iron Man 2," "Thor," and "Captain America") to prominent featured player (in the upcoming "The Avengers") to, potentially, the lead in his own spin-off, Samuel L. Jackson is still the highest-grossing film actor of all time, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
As of 2010, his impressive filmography has collectively brought in more than $7.57 billion at the box office, said a spokeswoman for Guinness World Records.
Jackson has held the record since 2007, according to Guinness.
The 63-year-old actor has a knack for snagging roles in colossal movies and franchises, like "Jurassic Park" (which grossed $914 million worldwide), "Pulp Fiction" ($212 million), and, of course, three "Star Wars" prequels ($2.4 billion).
Jackson, who had been acting in bit parts since the 1970s, didn't really rise to fame until his breakout role in the Spike Lee film "Jungle Fever." Jackson was 43 when he portrayed drug addict "Gator" in the 1991 film.
He averages four films a year, but actually had six films released in 2010. He has four in 2011, and three slated for 2012, including the aforementioned Marvel blockbuster "The Avengers."
