Actresses Defend Netflix Series ‘Insatiable” After Accusations of Fat-Shaming Surface

The show depicts a high school teenager bullied because of her appearance

Two actresses who star in an upcoming Netflix series that depicts a teenage girl’s transformation from overweight outcast to thin beauty have defended the show amidst online claims that the show fat-shames its main character.

Actresses Alyssa Milano and Debby Ryan, who appear in the series “Insatiable,” defended the show in a series of tweets. The show tells the story of a high school teenager who is bullied because of her appearance, according to NBC News. In a recent trailer, students refer to the main character as “Fatty Patty.”

“We are addressing (through comedy) the damage that occurs from fat shaming,” Milano said in a tweet. “I hope that clears it up.”
