The future's looking bright for Seth Aaron Henderson. Hot off of his big win on Project Runway Season 7, the Portland-based designer is now creating a solar-powered clothing collection, which will debut at Portland's upcoming Fashion Week on October 9.
Portland's Fashion Week itself is a solar-powered, carbon-neutral event, as its primary focus is on sustainable fashion design, practices and concepts. In fact the runway will be assembled from black solar panels provided by SolarWorld, an Oregon-based solar resource company, which boasts the country's largest solar energy manufacturing plant.
Drawing on the theme "Solar is the New Black," Henderson visited the plant himself for research and inspiration. We're not sure what to expect—and likely won't see images until after the show—but it's hard not to be charged up about this forward-thinking endeavor.
Portland's Fashion Week runs from October 6-10.
