The brainchild of local designers Amber Jimenez and Wray Serna, new label, Ambit, is a study in perfect proportions and understated chic.
With a dreamy debut collection of minimalist sundresses and perfect silk blouses for spring, the duo is sure to start generating buzz as one of Brooklyn's most interesting new talents. Look no further for soon-to-be summer staples like the perfect floor-length summer skirt, a flirty strapless bustier top or sleek, high-waisted shorts. We're also smitten by Ambit's no-frills one piece swimsuits, which might be described as equal parts Wendy Peppercorn (the underrated style icon from "The Sandlot") and Bianca Jagger.
After a successful money-raising effort this winter -- the pair raised over $6800 to fund an expanded fall/winter '11 collection -- a more developed collection is currently underway. Donations are still being accepted, and no support goes unrewarded: Donations of almost any amount are promised chic "thank you" gifts. For example, $30 gets you an Ambit-designed tee shirt, while $1000 earns you a ticket to their forthcoming presentation, as well as pieces from the current collection and, best of all, a tree planted in your honor in rural Connecticut.
