The Jason Wu for TSE capsule collection was an interesting departure for the designer into a pared-down aesthetic that still, naturally, telegraphed luxury with expertly wrapped cashmere.
Wu mostly stuck to an oversized drape, topped with turbans of the same material. A cover-up with tremendous sleeves sliced at the elbow, made up for it with suede panels and pockets patching its front and a color fiber that evoked pure cream. Beneath was shown a simple knit minidress. Because it's Wu, he was able to transcend a line of basics, placing a ruffle to fall just so on the skirt of a dress, or delicate ribbing on a black shawl. A few pieces structured up, tailoring the knits in with black leather and topping with a smartly cut blazer. We knew cashmere was soft, but Jason Wu for TSE is downright sublime.
We were thrilled by the presentation in general, the regular Jason Wu fall 2010 collection was also on display, and Mr. Wu was kind enough to provide several photo opps to passers by. Considering the slush outside, it was a positively dreamy place to stay a while.
