Here's a strange sentence: something called The Red Bull Music Academy spent five days celebrating landmark hip-hop albums by organizing workshops and public talks in each of the five boroughs. Each night culminated with a live run-through of the classic album in question.
If the idea of an energy drink buying hip-hop cred by organizing a workshop sounds a bit...odd...it should be noted that the five albums in question are Slick Rick's 1988 album The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, Black Moon’s Enta Da Stage from 1993, Wu-Tang Clan's ‘Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers),’ also from 1993, Mobb Deep's The Infamous from 1995 and Dipset’s Diplomatic Immunity from 2003. Considering that entire college courses...no...entire universities could be devoted to the teachings of 36 Chambers, this Academy can be commended for its selections.
You can watch a highlights video from the event below. Could probably use more question and answer sessions devoted to Cam'ron wardrobe decisions.
