Better late than never is an old adage that most of us have employed at one time or another. Whether it was a long awaited return phone call, a birthday card or paying a traffic ticket, we all have experienced instances of lateness.
The organizers of the 41 Strings event make no apologies for their upcoming Earth Day celebration that comes nearly three weeks after the date the rest of the world recognizes it.
Last year, Loomstate, an organic clothing company, helped bring together 40 Drummers and coupled them with visual artists to create a unique event held at the Good Units space in Manhattan’s Hudson Hotel.
This year the organizers tapped Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ guitarist Nick Zinner to curate the event titled 41 Strings.
With the help of Soft Circle's Hisham Akira Bharoocha and Ben Vida, Zinner will lead a performance of 41 stringed instruments that range from classical instruments like violins and cellos to more modern incarnations like electric guitar and bass. The performance that is both written and will be lead by Zinner will also include drums and synths to fill out the sound.
The Earth Day celebration will once again take over the Good Units space at the Hudson Hotel on May 11 and admission is free with RSVP@Loomstate.org. Make sure to get there early as space will be limited and you won’t want to miss this unique chance to once again raise a pint to mother earth.
