Murray's Bids Au Revoir to Roquefort

Sample the queen of blue cheeses one last time -- before it jumps upwards of $30 a pound thanks to Bush's import tax

Mark your calendars and prepare to wear black: This Sunday, March 22, Murray's is holding a funeral for Roquefort cheese.

For $5, you can sample one of France's most luscious exports one last time, before the iconic blue from namesake Roquefort-sur-Soulzon in southern France gets so expensive -- skyrocketing from $8 to $30 a pound -- even Murray's won't be able to afford it. That's because the Bush administration, in its final days, passed a measure to slap a 300 percent import tax on "luxury foods" from Europe in retaliation for the Union declining to import hormone-addled beef from the U.S.

According to the Feed, the first 50 people will also get a complimentary glass of wine. Raise it to the fact that George W. Bush is out of office! Murray's will also be doling out samples of blue cheese substitutes to tide you over until Obama's administration gets around to dealing with this ridiculousness.
