A Brooklyn boutique is looking for models for its 2010 ad campaign. Here's the catch: Women must be at least a size 18 to enter the search.
The model who is chosen for the 18PLUS Model Search will be shown in ads for Re/Dress NYC, a plus-sized women's clothing store which opened in the Boerum Hill section of Brooklyn in November of 2008.
In addition, the winner also gets featured in the online publication, Plus Model Magazine.
"Our goal is to find someone who's beautiful inside and out," the store owner's Deb Malkin told the Daily News. "Plus-sized women deal with a lot of negativity, so we're showing something positive."
The store has approximately 13,000 used and vintage dresses in stock, as well as shirts and accessories for women size 10 and up.
Now through February 28th, entrants are asked to email a photo of themselves to modelsearch@redressnyc.com and a 250-word essay on why they embrace their curves and advice to someone who may have body image issues.
